NOTD : Jade is the new black

My nail polish of the day is one of the prettiest green I've ever seen.
This colour is sophisticated yet unique, which are two of my favourites qualities in a polish.

I had to rewrite this post as it was one of my first post and the swatch was so newbie like.

Me, reading my former crappy cuticle-full posts :
*shame*"..This is bad... wow...What was I thinking ???? "*shame*

Don't you ever had that massive feeling of shame/crappiness when reading your former posts ?

This lovely varnish was deserving a better post, so here it is :)
What do we think over this colour ladies ? Hit or miss ?

Once upon an egg...

I know what you're thinking : What is wrong with that girl? A post about MINI EGGS? For real?
But hey, in my defense, we don't have mini eggs in Belgium and I heard so much about these little eggs, I knew I had to taste them or my life would never be complete.

Thanks to Henessy, I'm no longer a "I've never tried mini eggs and my life is tasteless" kinda girl.

Fact : it's incredibly delicious and super addictive. I've already finished the first pack..
*covering face in shame*

Oh my geaud quoi !

Bécot bécot ! (ouais c'est mon XO à la française )

NOTD : n°24 Bourjois - Black pearl dupe ?

My nail polish of the day is by Bourjois , a very dark colour with some blue shimmer in it that reminds me a lot of Chanel - Black Pearl although it may be a bit darker.

I would not say dupe but it definitely looks similar.
I always read about reviews describing similarities between Chanel and Bourjois, obviously as the first brand owns the other.

I'm always late on the Chanel trend, everytime I want to get my paws on one of the latest "it" colour it is GONE in no time and sold out everywhere. Wow.
People go crazy over Chanel nail polishes although it is way over the top pricey and you can easily find dupe in other drugstore brands... and cherry on the cake, for that amount of money, I personnally don't think they have the best nail polish quality ! ! !
Being the nail polish freak that I am, I own some Chanel but they are not the one I love the most or the one I reach most oftenly... but hey, that's just me.

A little close up so you can see the gorgeous shimmer :)

So, do you find this to be a dupe for Chanel - Black pearl ?
Do you go crazy over these "trendy" Chanel varnishes or do you go for dupes instead ?

Have a great lazy sunday. XO, Marilou

I am glowing from within, all because the sun shined once again

Hello my little rays of light. WOW I'm in such a good mood. As I wrote : I am glowing from within,  all because the sun shined once again . It says it all :)
Apologies for the über lack of post this week, but the sun has been too appealing.  I've been out and about around Brussels all week long, catching up with some friends, enjoying some delicious japanese food with my dad, chilling on patio and talking for hours over some iced coffee (fatty girls that we are).

This is one of my very casual outfit of the day :

  Ray Ban aviator
Topshop Marc B quilted bag
French Connection blazer
New Look striped top,
  random skinny jeans
 and Mango flats.

Dare I say LaurenConrad inspired ? I WISH!

I wore a super bright neon varnish, China Glaze - FlipFlop Fantasy.

It's a super pretty orange/pink colour.
One of the only neon colour that actually looks good on me, I had so many compliments.
Don't mind the shitteousness of the swatch but at least my blackberry captured the most accurate neon side of the varnish.

Hope you all have been enjoying this sunlicious week :)  XO, Marilou

Roll with the punches

This is what the intro of Lauren Conrad's new reality show was supposed  to be.
Needless to say how disappointed I am that the show has been cancelled :(

Springtastic

It feels so nice to be finally DONE with winter.

Have a springtastic day everyone

NOTD : Jules

It's the first time in years (Yeah..it's official I'm not 20 anymore ..sigh) that I'm not varnish-fulfilled with the spring collections. Usually, spring and fall are when the best colour comes out.
But this year...I mean...What happened? Texas Collection?????? For real? No offense, but this collection is just so tacky.
It's very rare that I don't like even ONE colour.. Sorry OPI, but it was a big miss for me.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm a major OPI's fan as half of my varnishes are from them... but *SIGH*

However, Zoya Intimate collection is by far, one my favourite spring collection.
Nothing that will take your breathe away but all the colours are just lovely.
One stands out particularly from the others : Jules
Jules is a super pretty understated gold glittery colour. It's not your ultimate blingtastic varnish, but it looks lovely, very passe-partout yet uncommon.

In the close-up you can see the true colour of this little baby. Muy fabuloso isn't it ?
I feel very ladylike and sophisticated when I wear this colour :)

What do we think ladies ?

PS : Just saying but...#TOWIE is coming back tonight for another season. Yaaaaaaay, I wonder what will be the main drama of this season??

On repeat : Sara Bareilles - Uncharted

Have a great sunday muchachas! xo Marilou

Illamasqua cream blusher ♥

Hey gringas,

I always had a major crush on cream blusher. They give you that perfect healthy glow and in comparison I always find regular powder blusher pretty boring.
One thing that is great is that from one brand to another, not only you have different colours but also different formulas and texture.
I already made a post about the Mac cream blusher.
Today I'm writing you a post about my ultimate favourite cream blusher : ILLAMASQUA'S.

The one I got is Promise, a warm candy pink.

When I saw this colour and dipped my fingers in the sample version it was love at first touch.
The texture is simply amazing. It's dewy yet so not greasy and extremely easy to apply.

I regret I didn't get more of these cream blushers as they have so many other gorgeous colours in their range.

The colour is very Barbie-like and bright, It gives you two pinky over the top cheeks which I love to wear with a very neutral make up.
However, it is buildable if you are looking for something a little bit more understated.

Have you ever tried these blushers from Illamasqua? This brand is one of my favourite although I don't own many of their products...#Sad (Oops...Damn you twitter!)

That being said, I've been sick all week long, sneezing and blowing my nose every 3 seconds..
That's why I spare you a pretty disastrous/messed up Face of the Day.
Such a yay way to start spring, huh ? The cool part is that, in order to recover  I had to stay at home, cuddling in bed with green tea, watching DVD.
I never buy DVD unless I know I will watch it over and over again.
(YES Beauty and the Beast is in the list)

Also, I've been watching Friends . Needless to say that I'll never ever get tired of watching this show. MASSIVE ADORATION :)

Have a le très fabulous weekend everyone! XO, Marilou

NOTD : Four Leaf Clover

Happy st Patrick's day ! ! !

Of course, I HAD to wear a green varnish today. I chose Four Leaf Clover by China Glaze.
This varnish has an incredible formula, it's super creamy and oh-so easygoing to deal with.
And the name is sooo appropriate!

Weirdly, it was impossible to capture the real colour. All my pictures gave me that blue-ish finish, which is so far away from the real colour of this little gem. It's a deep emerald green. It looks so unique and bright.

Here's a little comparison. On the left, Four Leaf Clover and on the right  Custom Kicks, so you can have a better perception of the true colour of my St Patrick's varnish :)

I always have issue on capturing the real colour of some of my varnishes, which is le très annoying!
Have u ever got the same issue nailpolish swatcher out there ?

Hope you all have a great green day! Cheers to the Irish :)

What I wore #5 Spring is in the air

Today has been the prettiest day outside. 17 DEGREES. I mean, wow! I didn't need a coat nor a scarf. It was very enjoyable and I was happy all day long. Crazy how the weather can change your mood, huh :) I thought it would be cool to show my outfit of this perfect sunny day. I suck BIG TIME at doing outfit of the day, so this is just a random pic taken at Uni that I've cropped. I know.. I need to get myself together and do something a little more bloggerish, this looks way to generation skyblog. So 2005.How amateur of me, I KNOW!  (I've been watching too much F.r.i.e.n.d.s lately, that's why the Monica's "I KNOW")  Nothing spectacular. A floral long sleeve top from New look, a high waisted skirt from Zara (that is  slighty too small and that made me breathe so hardly, but hey, pain is beauty!)
To add a little more fun to the outfit, I wore a bright blue varnish (Opi-No Room For The Blue)

Would you like me to post more of my OOTD ?

NOTD : Peach Sherbet

I'm baaack bitches.
Not that I was gone or anything but I did take a mini break from blogging as I was on a one week off from Uni. It has been the best week.
Nothing crazy happened just some major sleep, major rest and major laziness :)

I have put my false nails back on, I did some spring cleaning, caught up with some friends and made some plan for this summer, ordered some Asos goodies and looked for a student job.

I've been listening to Yelle , Jessie J, Beth Ditto and Hurts
Catching up on blogs, my two major crushes are Vida and Stephanie , lovely from A to Z!

And eventually working for Uni , some more sleep :)

My Nail Polish Of the Day is the springilicious Peach Sherbert from Models Own.

The application is once again super easy and you get a great coverage. I love the colour, however I do think it will looks way better with a little bit of a tan on.

Also, the glue from the false nails made my cuticles extremely dry and my nails look so messed up. eeek! Apologies for that. Anyone knows a great nail moisturizer? If that even exist? Or something to get my nails in better shape would be much appreciated :)

Hope you all had a great weekend :) XO, Marilou

FOTD: Spring Makeup

When spring comes around, (Oh god, I can't stop talking about it..I'm such a spring stalker!) all I want to do is go lighter on my make up.
When I think spring make up , I think flirty, dewy, fresh, quick, girly, understated yet flawless.
Of course, a heavy smokey eyes is still welcome but only during night time :)

What I've used :

♥Benefit - Moon Beam
♥ Gosh lipstick in Darling
♥ Nars Sheer Glow foundation in Santa Fe
♥ Estée Lauder bronzer in Amber Bronze
♥ L'oréal mascara in Volume Millions Lashes
♥ Mac cream blush in Lillicent

Overall, this was such a quick and easy makeup to achieve and I like the dewy and natural result , so it's a win win sitatution:)
What is your favourite spring make up ?

NOTD : Rose Précieux

What a lovely day outside, I CAN'T believe it's actually 12°.. when it was still snowing last year.
It's the time of the year when you open your closet and think :  sweet lord, I don't have ANYTHING to wear, I'm fat, ugly, stupid and too loud.
Well perhaps that's just me, but when spring comes around I know it's time to call into question everything and "rebirth"myself (if that even make sense) . Okay, so that was very deep...

My NOTD is the oh-so-precious 52 Rose Précieux by Bourjois.
It is supposed to give a  false nails effect, and I agree it does give a very neat finish.
The colour is filled with subtle gold shimmers which I love!
It's such a sweet pink,  perfect for such a sweet day :)

On repeat lately : Robert Abigail & Dj Rebel  - Meneando
Nothing better than a super cheesy spanglish salsa song with loads of totally unnecessary sunglasses, big fat diamond earrings and a gringo with tasteless braided hair that pretends to sing to cheer my mood up!

With a little help from my friends...

It's funny how my friends know exactly how to make my day when they are going away.
By bringing me back some foreign varnishes héhé
They don't even bother to ask what souvenir do I want.

So far, I've got little souvenirs from New York, Sweden, Taiwan, Lebanon and Paris :)

Thank you guys :D

My February Favourites

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula : My favourite body moisturizer for about a few months now.
It does softens, smoothes and relieves dry skin. At first I didn't enjoy the overpowering smell that much but now I'm used to it and I can't use anything else.

Baby Johnson's baby oil. A classic. My skin is incredibly soft after using this. A must have!

Aussie Take the Heat. The smell is simply AMAZING, unfortunately it is coming to an end and I have no possibilities to buy it in Belgium. I'm so bummed :( I know it's already has been in my December favourites, but hey, don't judge LOL I love it way too much!

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish . Washing my skin has become my favourite part of the day since I'm  using this product + my skin is radiant = Massive crush :)

E.l.f Gold Bronzer is like a bronzer and highlighter all in one. It brightens my face in a sec. Love it!

Estée Lauder Crystal Baby Pink, I've rediscovered this little gem that was unused for so long in my lipsticks storage. It's so moisturizing, glossy yet covering. Perfect coral pink shade for a daily basis :)

Rituals Cream and Care lipstick in Nude , I've been using this almost everyday. Great nude colour.

China Glaze Below Deck. I have an unconditional love for this colour . Punt aan de lijn.

E.l.f  Candid Coral. Its name says it all, I've been reaching it a lot lately and for such low-price blush the pigmentation is pretty damn good .

Have a great weekend everyone :) Marilou, XO

I'm walking on sunshine

"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,
so love the people who treat you right and forget the ones that don't
and believe that everything happens for a reason .

If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it.
Nobody said that it'd be easy,
they just promised it would be worth it."

Song of the week

Random and let's face it, useless facts you should know about me

Fact #1 : My biggest pet peeve must be chipped nail polish. *Shivers*
Fact #2 : I've been cracking my fingers for so long. No bueno.
Fact #3 : I'm a K-Pop freak.

Marilou, XO
